If there’s one reality of new online marketing, content marketing and social media marketing—it’s that your websites must be flexible. I’ve just converted this blog to a Solostream Theme, for self-hosted WordPress websites and blogs that I think rocks for flexibility!
The content areas of your small business website and blog should be changeable by non-programmers, non-techie folks. Which, sadly, this self-hosted blog—as a custom WordPress design—no longer was. I couldn’t change a sidebar or the content shared on it without a web developer.
So that led me to dig around for a new WordPress theme for Small Company Big Image. I looked at lots of themes. I considered the so-called ‘magazine’ styles like this one used by my friend Kevin Conlon for his blog, Investment Property Central. His blog theme has a nice display of multiple posts, a nice design and the content is well organized.
Then my Blog Tech Guy, Joel Williams suggested Solostream WordPress Themes. I loved the WP- Inspired Solostream’s clean look and feel at first sight! I was sold by the excellent, easy-to-grasp how to videos by Michael Pollock, the original creator of Solostream.
I am probably the least technical person on the (blogging) planet. It’s always a surprise when I can successfully do anything remotely ‘technical’ online (or anywhere else, but that’s another post).
The Solostream tutorials are so well written, that even I can follow them. Using this tutorial, I was able to set up the featured content posts. (With only one request to Joel for help.)
Around the marketing teams of corporate America, there used to be a saying, “You’ve got to make it so easy, a sales person can understand it.” Inside Washington D.C., it goes like this, “You’ve got to make it so easy a senator can understand it.” Well the Solostream team made it so simple, even I can understand it. That’s saying something.
Check out the uber cool, well-documented themes at Solostream if you’re looking for a new WordPress blog look and feel.
This blog is still a design work-in-progress. I am searching for a designer to help me fashion a custom header design. So if you know of any cool freelance web designers that you can recommend, send them my way.

Thanks for the mention! They really are great themes but I think you don’t give yourself enough credit for learning how to use it
